Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, Long Island

The wind moves above the graves
All is quiet beneath the soil
There are no hurries, no schedules, no appointments to keep
Nothing to do with the economy
Or that the newspaper arrived wet,
Nothing about $3.99 for coffee,
Or paying too much for a haircut
Nothing to purchase at the grocery
Or what's for dinner tonight
Can't complain if the mattress sinks
Or the pillow's lost its flufiness
Can't think if the boiler works
Or if my pants are too tight
Won't think of what I didn't say
Or if I said the wrong things last time
I couldn't tell you the weather, month or year.
