Aurora Federica

There she is, my daughter,
the one I call my twin -
'cause she looks like me.

She sits on the Montauk beach shore,
one hand feeling a rock's pulse,
another the earth's warmth.

Her posture is straight,
and she's healthy,
unlike her father.

She has the gift of innocence,
of which some traces still remain
within my core.

I'm at life's belly button,
she's situated at the beginning
of her spring.

With heart and thought,
she'll see more beaches,
blue skies and endless
landscapes.

She polished
my heart's irregular rocky surface,
and she holds it well kept.
